Have you ever spent the night in a work of art? In the hotel apartments on the grounds of the GfZK, you can do exactly that. In a building that formerly housed on-site artists’ studios, two apartments created by artists can be booked for overnight stays. Like the café, they are redesigned at regular intervals – in the sense of adaptability, which is part of the GfZK’s programme. One of the aspects explored by the invited artists is the relationship between the perception of a work of art and the value assigned to it, thereby directly engaging with the economic dimensions of art production.

The hotel apartment designed by Jun Yang, Paris Syndrom, was opened in December 2010. The second half of the studio building was converted into Hotel Volksboutique by Christine Hill in May 2012.
