In the middle of a technology fair, something extraordinary happens when Queen Amalie Auguste from the 18th century mysteriously appears in the present. She goes in search of her diamond-studded breast ribbon, which was stolen from the Green Vault in Dresden in 2019. A theft that intertwines colonial history, class issues, justice, and the art world, and makes Amalie travel through time in quantum leaps.

Techniques of Misdirection are presented in a room-sized installation and performances in which supposed magic and algorithmic prediction meet. Misdirection refers to a craft for manipulating perception and visual memory; it is used in sorcery and warfare, in politics, and for criminal purposes such as theft.
