“The Second Glance” is concerned with the perception of art itself as an artistic theme. We encounter art in museums, in public spaces, at home, in all media genres. We become familiar with the means of artistic expression for the first time at school and from our parents. In the case of contemporary art our vocabulary is often inadequate; we lack some kind of “adapter” that can mediate between art and ourselves. The works in this exhibition illuminate a variety of ways in which art may be responded to and talked about. They look at how society perceives art and investigate the collective and individual approaches to communication between art and the viewer.
