Olaf Nicolai

Olaf Nicolai’s exhibition in Leipzig focuses on aspects of the distribution of knowledge in the age of digital reproduction. To what extent is the system of knowledge transfer changing against the background of the universal availability of information? What significance will the printed book retain in this context? Or will specific functional mechanisms for different forms of knowledge transfer emerge in the future? Directly linked to this topic are the questions of distribution and copyright. To what extent will new mediation systems and distribution structures emerge, and where do the possibilities of new legal needs lie?
In the exhibition, these questions intermingle with strategies of quotation or appropriation and various functional and participatory elements.
