The monthly Leipzig literature show “Die schlecht gemalte Deutschlandfahne” (The badly painted German flag) has long been a cult event. But now it is getting an exclusive spin-off: “Die schlecht gemalte Hollandfahne” (the badly painted Dutch flag)! The guest of show host Rebecca Maria Salentin and her co-host Bettina Baltschev is Dutch writer Simone Atangana Bekono with her debut novel “Salomés Zorn” (C.H.Beck). It is the story of the teenager Salomé, who cannot control her anger and increasingly manoeuvres herself to the margins of society. After an act of violence, she begins to reflect and remember in juvenile detention. A haunting text about how strongly the feeling of being a stranger can dominate a life. As usual, the audience is of course also allowed to guess, participate and win in this version of the show.
