Joanna Sokolowska studied art history at the Universities of Warsaw and Hamburg. Between 2003 and 2008 she worked as assistant curator at the Zachęta Narodowa Galeria Sztuki in Warsaw. Since 2009 – shortly after her scholarship at the GfZK – she has been a curator at the Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź, Poland. In 2018, Joanna Sokolowska was a guest curator at the Nordic Art Association in Stockholm. She is primarily interested in feminist practices and artistic cartographies of world ecology and economy, as well as in models of future ecologies and collective forms of life.
After completing her scholarship in Leipzig, she realised the exhibition Arbeiter verlassen die Arbeitsstätte (Workers leave the Workplace).
