Kent Chan is an artist, curator and filmmaker based in the Netherlands and Singapore. His particular interest lies in the imagination of the “tropics”. His works “Future Tropics” (2023) and “Monsoon Sessions #1” (2022) are shown in the current exhibition “Things That Were Are Things Again”.
Kent Chan’s lecture-performance “Five Stories On Heat” explores the history and future of art and heat. Using his own and documentary film footage as well as reproductions of artworks, he provides insights into art-making during the Vietnam War, Malayan and Hopi myths, and the first exhibition of art from Singapore in Europe. Last but not least, he also questions Eurocentrism in the art world.
The event will be held in English.
