Ten years after winning the German Book Prize for The Invention of the Red Army Faction by a Manic-Depressive Teenager in the Summer of 1969, Frank Witzel’s magnum opus is being reissued, supplemented by a 200-page concluding unscientific postscript. The author has also published another volume: in eighty texts, Witzel examines the complex structures of our lives, ranging from harmlessness to humiliation, from parables to school breaks, from pupation to willpower. An encyclopedia of chance, told in a prismatic and ingenious way.

In conversation with author and cultural scientist Hanna Engelmeier and Frank Witzel’s long-time editor Jan-Frederik Bandel, we want to take a look into the workshop of an author who should not be missing from any canon of literary history.

Moderators: Hanna Engelmeier, Jan-Frederik Bandel
