Masha Maroz is an interdisciplinary artist, designer, ethnographer and the founder of Past Perfect, a platform devoted to the preservation of the historical and ethnographical heritage of Belarus. She is interested in archaic practices and rituals of the past in an attempt to evade the lifelessness of the present.
In various sacred customs, the artist traces social confrontation with the living and the dead, the vital energies and mortality. In the artist talk which takes place within the exhibition When The Sun Is Low – The Shadows Are Long Masha Maroz will present her 15-year research in the Palesje Region where people preserve rural, mystic and archaic practices.
