Usage concepts for the GfZK garden
Based on an ideas contest, which is being run with the help of architecture students from Aachen, Berlin, Zurich and Weimar, the exhibition deals with urban change, open spaces in the metropolis and concepts of temporary use. In the search for contemporary and sustainable architectural concepts, social and environmental issues play just as important a role as those questions concerning participation, finance and administration.
In addition to the ideas submitted, the exhibition also deals with notions of urban development, a topic often examined by the GfZK. The title of the exhibition (literally ‘building ground’) references what the garden could be seen as, whilst at the same time questioning how notions of what urban space consists of influence development proposals.
