In her artistic work, Paula Gehrmann deals with situations, contexts and conditions with which she comes into contact. As a rule, her work begins with photographic observations. She is interested in how spaces are created. Using industrial materials such as aluminium, MDF boards and Plexiglas, she creates spatial structures that expand the two-dimensional pictorial space. The structures serve both to present artistic works and to experience and use spaces differently than usual.
The publication “DISPLAY 2022 – 2016” provides insights into Paula Gehrmann’s consciously open and cooperative working method. The works presented and the texts by Lena Brüggemann, Vera Lauf, Elisabeth Pichler, Lars Rummel and Paul Ziolkowski address the relationship between art and design, assistance and inclusion and the scope of artistic and curatorial framing.
The publication is published by Marian Arnd Verlag, www.marian-arnd.de and was conceived and designed by graphic designer Simone Vollenweider.
