When the hum becomes visible

In the participatory performance When the hum becomes visible, the participants experience opportunities for articulation. Over a longer period of time they deal with their bodies and the overcoming of their own limits in public space. Conceptually, the process
is designed in such a way that there is no directing in the narrower sense. Rather, the aim is to let the joint experiment happen, to approach, equalize or even distance yourself in physical movement. The term humming indicates how “quiet” and at the same time
sonorous and strong the movements can be.

Using the format of a
Movement Choir, we “dance” together as a group – outdoors, among other things. The dance is presented verbally and physically, explained and stimulated, open to interpretation and personal expression.

Thematically, the focus is on everyday life, help and mutual care. Inspired by Rudolf
von Laban’s movement analysis and development of a dance notation system, we investigated pedestrian movement in relation to drawing and symbol making, which resulted in a choreographic score (blue, red, yellow square…). Situations are made possible that allow our bodies to come together, to explore each other / the city / the public space and to experience things differently.

The noises that arise during the joint performance remain as a sound / track on site and
resonate.

The thematic limitation results from the longer cooperation with the OKW, Lebenshilfe
Leipzig e.V. The participants of the OKW developed their own and observed movements as a basis for the choreographies.
