The exhibition Midnight by Yael Bartana at Kunstraum 47m Contemporary is the first solo exhibition of the Israeli artist with Polish roots in Leipzig. Bartana’s works focus on an examination of Jewish life and feminist ideas. By means of the so-called pre-enactment, the artist creates emancipatory visions of the future, which are dealt with in the exhibition and refer back to the origins of the women’s movement in Leipzig.
Within the framework of discursive formats, the project ties in with Jewish and feminist movements in the city of Leipzig and focuses on their visualisation and localisation in the present day.
Together with the friends of GfZK, we visited the art space 47m Contemporary and were given a guided tour of the exhibition by Hanna Thuma.
