In May 2024, the friends of GfZK travelled to the Venice Biennale together with the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (n.b.k).
During a two-day programme, the members visited the various locations of the Biennale. A guided tour of the city was also part of the trip.
Highlights included visits to the Australian Pavilion designed by Archie Moore, who also received the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale, and the Dutch Pavilion entitled The International Celebration of Blasphemy and The Sacred.
The group was also inspired by the visit to the German Pavilion Tresholds. In addition to an introduction to the work of Ersan Mondtag and Yael Bartana, the group also visited the island of La Certosa to see the sound installations by Robert Lippok, Nicole L’Huillier, Jan St. Werner and Michael Akstaller.
We also gained exciting insights from the artists of the Cypriot pavilion entitled On a wildflower-lined gravel track off a
quiet thoroughfare in the form of an exhibition tour.
In the Turkish Pavilion in the Arsenale, project coordinator Göksu Aydoğan gave the group a comprehensive introduction to the exhibition Hollow and Broken: A
State of the World and reported on the collaboration and the concept of the artist Gülsün Karamustafa.
