In February, the Friends of GfZK visited artist Lucia Graf at her exhibition BEACH in the ODP Gallery.
Lucia Graf guided the Friends of GfZK through her exhibition in dialogue and accompanied the tour with selected texts.
About the Artist:
Lucia Graf loves to play with signs in her works. As she herself claims, they are both the starting point and the main motif of her practice. The artist collects everyday messages, including from T-shirts and billboards, observes situations, deconstructs them, rearranges them and then translates them into texts, drawings and spaces. Her work is always a work with words – spoken, written, printed, hidden. In her current solo exhibition ‘BEACH’ at the ODP Gallery, everyday signs become the canvas for her artistic expression. Graf transforms banal messages into contemporary prophecies with which she fills self-made goblets. The exhibition also features drawings of mermaids, Graf’s newly invented alter ego, which move around in dreamlike scenarios. BEACH is an invitation to immerse yourself in a world where words transcend boundaries and invite you to discover the magic hidden in ordinary moments.
