In January, the friends of the GfZK visited the artist Charlotte Eifler in her studio in Leipzig. She gave us an insight into her artistic practice and some of her works.
In her artwork she questions the politics of representation, abstraction and computation. With a focus on feminist approaches and elements of science fiction, she investigates processes of image and history production as well as ideas of alternative futures.
Charlotte Eifler studied at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig, the Düsseldorf Art Academy, and the Berlin University of the Arts. Since 2020, she has held a teaching position in the Department of Media Art/Film at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design. Her work has been shown at venues including the Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden Baden and the Haus der Kulturen der Welt, as well as different festivals including Le printemps de Septembre (Toulouse), Sapporo International Art Japan, IMPAKT Utrecht, Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen and RENCONTRES INTERNATIONAL Paris.
