The exhibitions of artworks from the GfZK collection illuminate their own construction, including political, historical and social contexts, as well as their material and technical conditions. Not all of the works can be permanently exhibited, for example, due to a lack of space or for conservation reasons. That is why the series of so-called ›Cabinet‹ exhibitions, presents pieces from the GfZK collection annually. The cabinet can be associated with such traditions as the cabinets of arts and curiosities, from which many modern collections and museums developed. The exhibitions therefore also refer to the origins of the museum.
