The exhibition “Sweet Leaf” (the title refers to a song by the group Black Sabbath where it is used as a synonym for the intoxicant marijuana) brings together several new works. They all revolve around the theme of seduction and enticement, allure and attraction. Håkansson visualises and thematises this motif by means of simple odour traps, such as those usually used for catching or observing insects. His installations, which are often room-sized, resemble biological test arrangements or set-ups for scientific experiments. With his works, the artist often creates temporary habitats for plants and/or insects, which, as a kind of artificial mini-ecosystem, represent complex independent and closed cycles.
