The café will be redesigned by the Berlin-based Austrian Gerwald Rockenschaub (*1952) and used for a period of two years. Rockenschaub opted for a cool, minimalist design. He designed a seating combination of four tables and eight benches that is a self-contained but potentially expandable modular system. The coloured wall design takes up the reduced formal language of the seating furniture in its geometric aesthetics and extends it into the room. With minimal formal means, Rockenschaub creates a communicative and at the same time reflexive place in which the boundaries between architectural intervention, sculptural or pictorial effect and functional object become blurred.
