The exhibition will focus on works which comment on consumer culture in the broadest sense. The title ALL YOU CAN EAT refers to over-stimulation and satiation in our instantaneous digital culture. Several artists have been invited who show an ongoing interest in the profound changes in our urban infrastructure, and how these changes have a impact on our collective social dynamics. Implicit in this question is how abstract commercial and economic imperatives shape the way we live in a significant and questionable manner. The artistic practices of the artists involved might be understood as a deconstruction of the Mythologies of Roland Barthes. In the nineties the artists have not only taken for granted the fusion of art and life proclaimed emphatically by the sixties but have adapted the strategies and method of everyday commercial culture. They are using the market-strategies and sign language of our world full of goods and gadgets.
