Featured in the Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst Leipzig, weather everything is a display of artworks by contemporary artists. weather everything follows Dramatically Different, an exhibition also curated by Eric Troncy* in Le Magasin, Centre National d’Art Contemporain in Grenoble (France).
Both exhibitions are based on the same idea: the autonomy of the artwork, despite a recent tradition coming from minimalism and conceptual art, is unaltered even in the case of provocative proximity’s. So weather everything is a group show where the artworks have been displayed to create a supplementary meaning, unexpected, that could provide the viewer with the very experience of a curious narration. The artworks have been chosen also for their very contemporary style, most of them in a “Walt Disney Aesthetic” that makes the show very funny and attractive. This is another conviction of the curator that an artwork may look entertaining and be very serious at the same time.
As Dramatically Different, weather everything is the name of a brand new cosmetic by Clinique. weather everything is supposed to protect the, skin from any kind of weather. The artworks in the exhibition are also exposed to different climates: even in the biggest storm they remain strong and unaltered.
weather everything is entirely conceived for the pleasure, of the viewer, and proposes, rather than a theory a real experience.
* Eric Troncy is editor of french magazine Document sur l’Art, and co-director of Le Consortium, Centre National d’Art Contemporain in Dijon.
