In the work of the Icelander Ólafur Elíasson, born in 1967, the relationship between nature and culture is illuminated in an unusual way. With his installations, the artist creates event spaces that allow the viewer to experience light, colour, water, air and temperature. On the one hand, the interplay of the elements results in perceptual phenomena that are either borrowed directly from nature, e.g. an artificially created rainbow, or convey supposedly natural but artificial experiences, for example with a wall of floating water drops. Elíasson developed a space-related work for the ground floor.
