The sculptures and installations with which Matthew McCaslin has, since the beginning of the nineties, made his name on the international stage remind one of a handyman’s workshop: cables, plugs, television sets, loudspeakers, lamps or ventilators make up the basic elements of his artistic vocabulary. Out of everyday materials he creates temporary situations in which the different objects become hooked up to each other in a complex way for the respective exhibition.
