Crafts of the Everyday

Crafts are based on traditions, on the transmission of knowledge, knowhow and skills. Our everyday lives are shaped by traditions and actions we have learned from others, although we might not always be aware of it. In the exhibition Kunst_Handwerk you can pass on a personal tradition! Grab a postcard and describe an everyday tradition or a recurrent ritual of yours. This could be the way you hang out the laundry, when and how you do your first swimming in spring or the first thing you do after getting up to start your day right. Describe the action very precisely. Write down your tools, time, place or purpose and who taught you to do it. You can leave the postcard in the exhibition or send it to the museum by mail. In the exhibitions, visitors can take one of the postcards with them and learn the action that is described.

This way to approach the exhibition Kunst_Handwerk was developed in the context of the seminar zwischendrin: Kunst_Handwerk.
